Last night I went with Paul Engelstad from the US Embassy to etnOfest (Ethnofest) to enjoy the final night of a week-long celebration of traditional Albanian culture and performance. We drove about 45 minutes into the country; the last 15 minutes were on narrow, winding dirt roads. Sadly, damage from the war was evident everywhere. We ended at the home and farm of Dauti, an elderly Albanian man who graciously has converted his estate into an ethno museum with performance venues and refreshment areas.
To experience traditional Albanian performance in this setting was incredible–certainly one of the highlights of my six months in Kosova. Faleminderit shumë, Dauti, and all who made entOfest such a success!
